Tuscany: an enchanting land of hill-top villages and magnificent landscapes that has inspired artists and writers for centuries.

Cycling is of course the best way to discover the rolling hills of this beautiful region and we have carefully designed an exceptional cycling route that will get you off the main roads and onto quiet backroads allowing you to discover the best of Tuscany.

Our trip starts in Pienza in the hilly south and includes a ride up Monte Amiata which at 1700m is the highest peak in Tuscany. Pienza is also very close to Montalcino and Montepulciano, 2 of Italy's top wine growing regions, so a couple of wine-tastings are a must on the agenda.

From Pienza we head north to Radda in Chianti through the Crete and the wooded slopes that characterize the Chianti region.

The final leg of our Tour of Tuscany takes us west to the magnificent medieval town of San Gimignano. Our final ride features a spectacular journey into the rugged terrain that lies to the west of San Gimignano and culminates in the climb to the Etruscan city of Volterra.

With an average daily distance of approximately 46 miles this trip is designed to cater for those keen cyclists who want challenging rides with a little relaxation time in the afternoons!

So join us in Tuscany and experience "la vita bella" as you pedal your way across Italy's most spectacular region!

The Thomson Bike Tours Difference

Your trip to Europe may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience and you deserve the best! Performance cyclists now rate Thomson Bike Tours as the premiere provider of performance trips to Europe. Here are a few details that set us aside from the rest:

LESS VAN - MORE BIKE: NO Van Transfers between your hotels and the start/finish of the bike rides. Each day we ride from and to the hotel. Our local knowledge, extensive planning and vast experience mean that you spend less time in a van and more time on the bike!

Best-in-class Support & ride leaders: another key to our success! Sag van and ride leader for every 10 riders.

Highest Staff to Customer Ratio: 1 staff member per 4 customers!

THE THOMSON RIDES: over the years we've also gained a reputation for providing the best (and most challenging!) rides. 25 years experience riding throughout Europe counts!

Limited Hotel Changes: we've designed the trip so you stay 3 nights in the same hotel in Pienza, 1 night in Radda and 2 nights in San Gimignano.
