The Coastal Charm of Croatia
Croatia has so much to offer the cyclist looking for new adventures. With river valleys, mountains and a breathtaking Mediterranean coastline, the country is amongst our ultimate cycling locations.
THE MEETING OF CULTURES
Croatia is the meeting place of the Balkans and central Europe, affording the country a uniquely diverse culture. Venetian palaces nestle alongside Napoleonic forts, whilst Roman ruins frame ancient Slavic churches and Viennese mansions. Cycling in this varied landscape is like visiting a multitude of countries in one, with every ride a journey of discovery under the Mediterranean sun.
WINES, OILS AND CUISINE
Local food and drink plays a big role in the social life of Croatia, locals are famed as much for their hospitality as their incredible produce. Simple, homestyle cooking is a feature of family-run taverns, with a new wave of fine dining chefs are bringing a more adventurous approach to the table. Of course you can’t visit Croatia without sampling the locally produced wines and olive oils, each of which is gaining a reputation worldwide.
CYCLING PARADISE
With olive groves and vineyards punctuating the landscape, the warm air is fragrant as you ride in Croatia. With views out along the Dalmation Coast, interrupted occasionally by a fishing village, the atmosphere is tranquil and welcoming. That’s not say that you can put your feet up, Croatia has some tough climbs, not least Sveti Jure — an absolute epic climb both in terms of difficulty and incredible vistas (29km / 2000m or 18 miles / 6,600ft).
WHAT TO EXPECT
Our trip has a daily average of 61 miles (102km) and nearly 7,000ft (2,109m) of climbing, featuring two HC climbs and countless 2 and 3 cats. We venture over to the islands of Korcula and Brac during our time, adding to that sense of multiple destinations in one. Each part of this beautiful country has it’s own distinct charms and challenges on the bike.
EPIC Trans Croatia
We’ve enjoyed many beautiful destinations for our VIP trips over the past 10 years but few can compare to Croatia.
