The TDF Femmes peloton will arrive in the Alps tomorrow, so today we’ve lined up one of our favorite rides in the French Alps. From Annecy, you’ll ride around the eastern shore of the  Lake to Faverges where you’ll head into the Alps. A beautiful road takes you through Serraval towards Thones where you’ll start the climb to the Col de la Croix Fry. From the Croix Fry, enjoy a short descent before you start climbing again, accompanied by the ring of cow bells, as you head towards the Col des Aravis and its spectacular views of Mont Blanc.

LIVE Race-Viewing: Private Hospitality Marquee on the Col du Granier

Today is a thrilling stage, featuring the major climb to the Col du Granier. With the summit of the Granier just 17km from the Finish Line in Chambery, there will be action guaranteed on the 9km climb, and you’ll be there to witness all of it LIVE on the roadside.

Your ride starts just outside Chambery where you’ll join the TDF Femmes race route, 50km from the summit of the Col du Granier. In St Pierre d’Entremont the climbing gets serious as you approach the lower slopes of the Col du Granier.  Higher up the mountain, our Logistics Team will have set up our Race-Viewing Hospitality Marquee close to the summit, with food, drinks, and satellite TV race coverage to keep you entertained as you wait for the race to approach the summit of this famous climb.

Climbs

Stage

Trip Start

Stage 1

Vannes > Plumelec

Starting in the magnificent medieval setting of the port of Vannes, this short stage run entirely in the Morbihan is designed to add dynamism to the race. After tackling part of the route of the 2020 French Road Championships at Grand-Champ, the peloton will quickly reach the two laps of the final circuit where they will tackle the climb of the Côte de Cadoudal three times. Victory at the summit will certainly go to a punchy rider.

Stage 2

Brest > Quimper

The peloton will set off from the busy port of Brest, just as the 2021 Tour did. After running along the coast and passing through Châteaulin, a town renowned as a cycling centre, the riders will face the Menez Quelerc’h (3km at 6.2%). From Locronan, this stage - run entirely in the Finistère area - will head to Quimper and onto an undulating loop spiced up by two hills, with the finish line located at the top of the second. The day’s winner is sure to have plenty of stamina and power.

Stage 3

La Gacilly > Angers

La Gacilly hosted both the 2023 Tour de l’Avenir and this year’s Tour de Bretagne. This stage start in front of the covered market is a logical and well-deserved continuation of that trend. A little further on, memories of Tour stage starts in 1983 and 2004 will be rekindled at Châteaubriant, which is home to a well-renowned club and an operational velodrome. After racing on country roads with no significant difficulties, the riders are very likely to serve up a bunch sprint for the fans in Angers.

Stage 4

Saumur > Poitiers

Starting at the National Equestrian School, the route will follow the Loire and then the Vienne, taking in some marvellous sights, including the châteaux at Montsoreau, Chinon and Richelieu, the town built by the eponymous cardinal. Heading south towards Poitiers, the final five kilometres of this stage will be identical to the finale in the 2020 Tour, which concluded with a bunch sprint at the end of a long false flat.

Stage 5

Jaunay-Marigny Futuroscope > Guéret

At the start of this long stage in Jaunay-Marigny, the riders will pass the HQ of the FDJ-Suez team, which, thanks to the support of Futuroscope, is celebrating 20 years in the women’s peloton. At Chauvigny, a stage town in the 2020 Tour, they will pass through Place Raymond-Poulidor. Continuing on minor roads and through Dun-le-Palestel, the riders will reach the Maupuy climb (2.8 km at 5.4%), before heading into Guéret for the finish on a rising false flat.

Stage 6

Clermont-Ferrand > Ambert

The stage, which starts in the huge Place de Jaude in the heart of Clermont-Ferrand, will be run entirely in the department of Puy-de-Dôme. Beginning on fairly flat roads, it will head to Courpière, where things will get serious. The ascent of the Col du Béal (10.2km at 5.6%) will be quickly followed by those of the Col de Chansert (6.3km at 5.5%) and the Côte de Valcivières. Running through a wild landscape of volcanic rock, there will be no respite at all on the road to Ambert.

Stage 7

Bourg-en-Bresse > Chambéry

From the magnificent monastery at Brou, the race will start on flat roads on the edge of the Dombes and the Ain plain. The riders will skim past the Glandieu waterfall before finding their pace checked by the Saint-Franc climb. After passing through Les Échelles and the Guiers Vif gorges, they will head for the Col du Granier (8.9km at 5.4%). The dive into the finish, located in front of the Chambéry Savoie Stadium, is likely to be fast and technical.

Stage 8

Chambéry > Col de la Madeleine

There will be no respite on what’s the Queen Stage of the 2025 edition. It will head into the Bauges massif straight away, with the first major difficulty coming on the way out of Chambéry in the form of the Col de Plainpalais (13.2km at 6.3%). After crossing the less demanding Col du Frêne, the race will reach the Maurienne and tackle the toughest flank of the Madeleine. Extending to 18.6km, with regular changes in gradient (averaging 8.1%) and a rough surface, this climb will provide plenty of opportunities to create gaps.

Stage 9

Praz-sur-Arly > Châtel

This “100% Haute-Savoie” finale offers a good opportunity for those riders who are behind in the standings to try to turn things around. The action will begin on the Côte d’Arâches-la-Frasse (6.2km at 7.1%) and continue, of course, on the Joux Plane (11.6km at 8.5%) and then on the Col du Corbier (5.9km at 8.5%). The climb towards the finish, at Pré la Joux, is steep as it passes through Châtel on the leg-breaking Route de la Bechigne.
