Overview

Our trip to the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will feature a unique blend of LIVE race-viewing and challenging riding.

The trip starts with 2 days of incredible racing in Rotterdam where you’ll witness all 3 opening stages with access to the Stage Starts and Finishes.

From Rotterdam you’ll follow the race to Valkenburg, home to the finish of the classic Amstel Gold Race, where you’ll ride the first 88km of today’s stage on the actual race route. The ride starts with 3 iconic Amstel Gold climbs: the Geulhemmerberg, the Bemelerberg and the famous Cauberg, before heading over the border into Belgium, where our staff will have set up camp on the legendary Côte de la Redoute, scene of so many fierce battles in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège classic race. Watch the pro riders battle it out, live on the road-side from the luxury of our Private Hospitality Marquee, complete with LIVE satellite TV feed, catering and drinks.

Your next destination is the most famous climb in pro cycling, the famous 21 switchbacks that lead to the ski town of Alpe d’Huez. Enjoy a couple of days of riding the classic climbs of the French Alps as we wait for the arrival of the Final Queen Stage, and a magnificent finish in Alpe d’Huez!

Join our all-female staff for an incredible week of race-viewing and spectacular rides. No one does the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift like Thomson!

LIVE Race-Viewing Stage 4: Private Hospitality Marquee on the Côte de La Redoute

A thrilling stage today featuring sections of 2 of the Spring Classic 1-day races: the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and you’ll be there to witness all the action LIVE on the roadside, on the iconic Côte de la Redoute!

The ride starts in Valkenburg, at the bottom of the Cauberg, the final climb in the Amstel Gold race. You’ll ride the Cauberg and 2 other classic Amstel “bergs”, the Geulhemmerberg and the Bemelerberg. From Amstel territory you’ll ride south into Belgium heading for “La Redoute” where our Logistics Team will have set up our Race-Viewing Hospitality Marquee close to the summit of the short climb. Food, drinks, and satellite TV race coverage will keep you entertained as you wait for the race to approach the summit of this legendary climb.

Day 5

Into the Alps

With the race covering over 500km in the next couple of days (between transfers and actual race routes), we’ve decided to leave the race for a couple of days, travel to Alpe d’Huez and get ready for the final 2 mountain stages. You’ll take the TGV high-speed train to Lyon, followed by a short transfer to the famous Alpe d’Huez ski station.

After check-in and lunch, it’s time to jump on the bikes for a spectacular ride in the high mountains around Alpe d’Huez. You’ll descend Alpe d’Huez to Bourg d’Oisans where you’ll start the climb towards the Col du Lautaret, turning off the main road to enjoy the absolutely stunning views from Mont du Lans. The ride continues with a short descent to the dam in Chambon, where you’ll start your first big climb in the Alps, the magnificent Col de Sarenne, the back-door into Alpe d’Huez!

Day 6

Distance

Elevation

21 switchbacks to Alpe d'Huez

Today is your opportunity to test yourself on the most famous of all climbs – the 21 switchbacks that lead to Alpe d’Huez!

The ride starts with a long descent and after 28km you’ll reach the town of Bourg d’Oisans, the start ot the climb to Alpe d’Huez. This time round you’ll only climb the first 3km of the climb before turning off in La Garde onto one of the most spectacular roads in the Alps: the panoramic road to Le Freney.

From Le Freney, you’ll ride back down the valley to Bourg d’Oisans. This time you’ll climb all of the iconic 21 switchbacks to Alpe d’Huez.

Day 7

Distance

LIVE Race-Viewing Stage 7: Finish in Le Grand-Bornand

Today is the day the climbers have been waiting for as the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift enters the Alps with the first of 2 big mountain stages. The final 20km of today’s stage are mostly uphill so we expect the General Classification to get blown apart in this Summit Finish.

You’ll ride the final 66km of the Stage on the actual race route so expect to be cheered on by the crowds of passionate fans lining the race route, especially on the final 20km to the uphill finish in Le Grand-Bornand! After riding the route, watch the pros battle it out on the first major climb of the race.

Day 8

Distance

Elevation

LIVE Race-Viewing Stage 8: VIP Finish in Alpe d'Huez

The Queen mountain stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift and you’ll be there to witness all the action LIVE from the VIP Lounge at the Summit Finish in Alpe d’Huez.

The climb up the 21 iconic switchbacks will blow the field apart, and will no doubt decide who takes home the yellow jersey. Of course you’ll want to ride up Alpe d’Huez on race day so we’ve planned a couple of rides. Stronger riders will want to ride the spectacular road to La Bérarde before the climb to Alpe d’Huez. If you prefer a less strenuous ride, ride down to Bourg d’Oisans with our ride leaders, have a coffee in the town square, which will be buzzing with TDFF fans, then join the “peloton” riding up the climb to the finish in Alpe d’Huez.  An incredible end to an amazing Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift!

Stage

Experience the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift with the TDF Premier Official Tour Operator

Stage 1

Rotterdam > La Hague

The stage begins with a 40km loop that features two trips through a long and newly built tunnel beneath the waters of the River Scheur – the tunnel will be formally opened on this great occasion. The riders will then find themselves in flat and wind-exposed terrain, the route running between tulip fields and through urban areas. The last five kilometres, which are wide and free of significant difficulties, will lead to a final straight on an avenue that’s perfect for a bunch sprint.

Stage 2

Morning: Dordrecht > Rotterdam, Afternoon: Rotterdam TT

With two stages on the menu in a single day, the riders will be reviving a tradition abandoned by the Tour de France in 1991. The morning brings a short but intense road stage, which will be subject to the vagaries of the wind and constant changes of direction. For a probable sprint finish on Boompjes, a wide avenue lined with skyscrapers. In the afternoon, a short time time trial yhat should suit the most powerful of the riders. The only slight rises on the course will be the two major bridges, Érasme and Guillaume. There are a few rightangled bends as the course passes the town hall and the maritime museum, but it’s mainly on big boulevards and the winner could average close to 50km/h.

Stage 4

Valkenburg > Liège

Combining the difficulties of the Amstel Gold Race (Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg twice, plus the Cauberg) with those of Liège-Bastogne-Liège will make this stage very challenging. At the finish on the Quai des Ardennes, the finale, tackled via Mont-Theux (2.8km at 5.6%), will have put the peloton to the test following the climbs of the Côte de la Redoute, Côte des Forges and Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons.

Stage 5

Bastogne > Amnéville

The very undulating route (featuring more than 2,000m of vertical gain) and regular changes of direction should produce a dynamic stage. Punchy riders will relish this test, and especially the finish, which will be located in front of the Amnéville thermal baths, at the top of a challenging final kilometre (a 6% gradient to start with, then between 3 and 4% up to the line).

Stage 6

Remiremont > Morteau

After leaving the picturesque setting of Remiremont and heading up the Moselle valley, the peloton will pass through Thibaut Pinot’s hometown, Melisey, and then his birthplace, Lure. Beyond the magnificent Cirque de Consolation, the first test in the Jura massif, the route features two significant ramps heading into the finish (5.5km at 5.6% and 1.8km at 6.9%).

Stage 7

Champagnole > Le Grand-Bornand

The longest stage of this 2024 edition will begin with a number of smallish hurdles, plus the long haul up the Col de la Croix de la Serra (12km at 5.1%), from the Saint-Claude side. It concludes with a new and steep finish at Chinaillon (7km, 5.1%), an authentic hamlet with traditional chalets on the flanks of the Col de la Colombière.

Stage 8

Le Grand-Bornand > Alpe d´Huez

A truly beautiful mountain stage with two big climbs: the highest point of this third edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift comes on the Col du Glandon (1,924m), which will be tackled via its hardest side (19.7km at 7.2%); then, for the grand finale, we have the mythical 21 hairpins Alpe d’Huez, where the 2024 champion is destined to emerge.
